I’m playing Oregon Trail. The green screen version I used to play on the Apple II computers in elementary school, not the fancied up version with graphics that the kids these days get all nostalgic for.

Except it’s not Oregon Trail, it’s a game called “Redwood City.” In it, I have to navigate the dangerous political environment within Microsoft, currying favor over cubicle walls and jockeying for power by negotiating with executives. Successful attempts mean I move up a level, attaining a higher floor or a more coveted office.
